Over time, I've found myself asked to teach more and more writing classes. I like teaching. I like teaching writing. I enjoy it so much that I helped found Anhinga Writers' Studio, and I'm now preparing to teach writing next summer in Provence, France. My students will spend mornings touring beautiful Provence with tour director Kaydie Vistelle, then they'll spend their afternoons in small-group classes with me, leaving ample quiet time in between for incorporating what they’ve learned into their own writing projects. In the evenings, we will relax together with good food and good wine, talking about life in Provence, life as a writer, and life in general. After this six-day course, you’ll return home with memories of the scent of lavender and the taste of Chateau Neuf de Pape, rejuvenated and ready to write your own tales.

If you'd like to join me in the South of France, check out the tour website: Kaydie's Tours of Provence

I love teaching, but the trip to Provence only happens once a year. It occurs to me that writing instruction doesn't need to occur face-to-face. In fact, it lends itself well to online communication, because working by internet allows the student the chance to spend time on a submission, then submit it to the teacher when it's really ready.

If you're interested in that kind of instruction, drop me an e-mail at maryannaevans@yahoo.com with some information on your work, including the number of pages, and we can discuss the kind of instruction or editing you'd like. I take payment through Paypal.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Merry Band of Murderers

...A Merry Band of Murderers is a winner....Three [stories] are particularly noteworthy: Mary Anna Evans' Land of the Flowers, Jeffrey Deaver's The Fan, and Val McDermid's Long Black Veil.... A Merry Band of Murderers is an admirable anthology of short stories by a skilled company of mystery authors.
