Finishing a book sure feels good...
I just shipped the edited manuscript for Strangers to my publisher. This is my sixth book, so I'm becoming accustomed to the ebb and flow of the book-writing process, but I don't think it will ever get old. Finishing a 400-page manuscript, then reading it and finding out that you're really proud of it, is such a heady experience. In a few weeks, the review copy will arrive, and it's always a thrill to see my story in print. Then, in October, several cases of finished hardcovers will land on my doorstep and that intoxicating new-book smell will fill the house yet again.
I love my work...
Findings
in Evans's fine fourth archaeological mystery...the story settles into a comfortable pace that allows the reader to savor the characters.
Effigies
the national association for independent booksellers, has recommended Effigies to their readers as a Book Sense Notable Book
Relics
Evans' second archeological mystery is every bit as good as her debut, Artifacts (2003)....Faye makes a compelling heroine, and she's supported by an interesting array of suspects....Transcripts of Dr. Martinez's interviews scattered throughout the narrative provide important clues for the discerning reader.
Artifacts
Mary Anna Evans tells a good story.
Merry Band of Murderers
...A Merry Band of Murderers is a winner....Three [stories] are particularly noteworthy: Mary Anna Evans' Land of the Flowers, Jeffrey Deaver's The Fan, and Val McDermid's Long Black Veil.... A Merry Band of Murderers is an admirable anthology of short stories by a skilled company of mystery authors.
